Breast implant change

What is

Breast implant change

Implant change is the procedure through which previous breast implants are removed and others that are the same, bigger, smaller are placed or breasts are left without implants. This surgery is indicated for patients who wish to enlarge, reduce or remove breast implants or for patients who have encapsulation or rupture of breast implants. In some cases, it is not only necessary to remove and change prosthesis but also to lift breasts or mastopexia (see mastopexia) to obtain an optimal result.

This procedure is made through the same incision through which the previous surgery was performed, and implants are removed, the state of prostheses and breasts is observed after removing them, if everything in thorax is ok, then new prostheses are placed. In some cases, it is necessary to expand or close the pocket in which prostheses are placed and thus the procedure lasts more.
