Bichectomy
Bichectomy or plastic cheeks surgery is the procedure through which fat bags from the lower part of the cheeks, also known as Bichat fat bags, is removed. Bichat fat bags are susceptible of increasing size for various reasons, the most common ones being family inheritance and/or abrupt significant weight changes where there may also be increase of fat in the jowl.
In all cases this Bichat fat makes the face look wider or round, which is interpreted as a “bulged face” or “chubby”. The objective of surgery when dissecting these bags and thinner the faces and enhance aesthetic aspect.

This procedure lasts about 40 minutes.
2How long is the recovery time?
Patient may return to working activities from the second day depending on the recovery of each patient and the kind of activity they have.
3What post-surgery precautions must I have?
Basically, to follow recommendations and take medication. Physical activities as sports may be done starting on the tenth day after surgery and they may gradually increase in intensity.
4If I am a foreign patient, how long must I stay in Colombia?
It is advisable to stay in Colombia for at least three days after the procedure, for better post-surgery control.

Yes, this surgery may be combined. In most cases, bichectomy is combined with procedures such as rhinoplasty and otoplasty.
9Does it hurt much?
More than pain, it may cause discomfort from swelling. It is advisable not too eat very solid food for four days.
